Advice, Short story

A Snap was clearly heard as the troupe stopped. Holding a fist up the leader motioned for the small troupe to move forward, a soft hustling noise could be heard as their gear shifted into a more comfortable position as they moved into the doorway, the only light was the light available from the setting sun in the distance, shade covering the ground as the large trees blocked the sun directly. Clicks heard as the group started their night vision, they began their search. The leader had recently heard rumors, about a sword that could destroy entire nations with a single swipe, causing natural phenomenons at will. Tsunamis, earthquakes, tornadoes, all with a quick and deft strike of a single blade, a blade said to have been forged by the devil himself, used and held in his accursed hand, in his fight against the Almighty. The troupe was a group of soldiers that were known as a neteru guardian squad, but for now they were working in the name of the Almighty, the one God all worshipped, in their own way. The leader, a woman, around middle age, pre-mature wrinkles on her worried face, her lips pursed tight in an eternal look of annoyance as her crystal blue white eyes seemed to pierce your very soul when gazed upon, was a brilliant woman, and had realized, if they had heard about the rumors, then their ever eternal foes had to. Their enemies, being of hell sent upon earth to tempt those of the weak will, were constantly working for their master, a man of utter evil who had the will to end all life, simply on the whim that since not every soul would come his way then he would get as many as he could as soon as he could for another attempt at an assault of the pearly gates. With this weapon, The Sword of Death, that might just be possible, with a soft sigh the woman followed after the group, readying her weapon she began her slow stalk, eyeing every piece of crafts work for any signs of weakness or tampering, an eerie green glow surrounding all of the items that stood on display, thanks to her own night vision. EEEEEEAGH!, out of nowhere a demonic being appeared from behind her, pinning the woman to the floor, even through her ski mask she could smell the stench of its putrid rotting flesh, before unleashing a shot burst of holy dirt and blessed rounds into its midsection, as the best fell screaming in agony on the floor, squirming and clawing in a futile attempt at freedom from the pain before disappearing into a cloud of dust. Warning her group using the microphone around her neck she listened on the chatter, the only response coming from the group was a static silence. Cursing to herself she checked her clip, making sure she had her holy water grenades, and three extra clips, turning on her infrared she began prowling through the museum, the night having settled thickly around her as the moonless skies provided no light, her infrared would be able to pick up the demonic beings, they emitted a heat fro their skins that could match fire, allowing her to view them through walls, and almost entire buildings, if the material was thin enough. Spying a large group of red, a giant blob of it she switched back to her night vision, just in time to as a wall loomed right in front of her. Planting small explosives against the wall she put the detonator under her foot, her gun leveled and aimed straight as she pushed down, stepping off as she began her charge the wall falling still as she dived through, her gun blazing as the only sounds that could be heard, were screams of pain and a loud gunfire. Panting as she sat down, her entire team dead, but the entire group of demons dead to she smiled, chuckling to her as she felt a holy presence wash over her. It was pointless, she thought, this was all pointless, the sword, its already under protection, tears slid from her eyes as she stared at the evil sword, my entire team just sacrificed their lives, for nothing. Sighing, she walked out of the large building, knowing not to even worry about her teams body, the demons had eaten them the second their hearts stopped, she knew this, but it didnt stop her heart from yearning to see their faces one more time, but she couldnt let her feelings get the better of her, she had to form a new team, and soon, this night had shown her one thing, the evil forces were moving, and that was never good.

Hm, I actually love the whole idea of the sword. Also loved how the holy powers were put into weapons in war, talking about the guns and grenades. Plus everything about the demons. I'm not sure what I'm talking about but it was awesome and I would actually love a continuation if possible or something leading up to this event. But otherwise congratz, and hope to see more in the future.

The tides of fate throw us around
Make us cry and fall to the ground
If everything has to be this way
Then why not keep the dangers at bay
We always ask the question why
When the only thing left is to say goodbye
Maybe there's a reson for this to be
When I see you and you see me

Yes there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run
and there's still time to change the road your on.

There's a sign on the wall, but she wants to be sure,
cause you know sometimes words have two meanings

Same old song, just drop of water in an endless sea
All we do, crumbles to the ground but we refuse to see.

Reminds me (very loosely) of Clive Barker's "Jericho". Good video game, but far to hard for me. In any case, the combination of holy items and weaponry of war has always been funny to me (praise the lord and pass the ammunition), but this made it truly interesting.

I think it would be fun to roleplay, honestly. XD

Clive Barker is a mastermind, though isn't often known by name. The game 'Jericho' is from one of his stories. One of his more famous works, one we have all no doubt at least heard of, is Hellraiser (and it's sequels). His short story 'The Forbidden' is also the basis for the Candyman series.

Yeah... but basically it's a game about god's first creation, and the possible end of the world. What I like is that the 'good guys' are a group of occultists, those who use magic. They also use holy power, as one of the characters was a priest I believe. Strangely enough, from what I played, the group didn't seem to dwell on the existence of god or whatever, but instead focused only on the slaughter of the dark forces. Then again, I only played like seven hours into it before giving up... >.>
